DVD Review "ANGELS AND DEMONS" Score C+

In a follow up to The DiVinci Code comes this one. Tom Hanks again as Robert Langdon the religious writer and theorist. This time the Vatican is seemingly attacked by the ancient Illuminatii who appearantly are trying to destroy the city with a anti matter bomb. Suppposedly they stole an experimental project trying to find the "GOD Particle". If the antimatter container's battery drops out then the particle touches matter and causes a 5 megaton bomb explosion (which would level the Vatican). Hanks's character has a few hours to solve the magic illuminatii puzzle to find the location of the 'bomb'. Now although there is major action an puzzle solving to be found, there is plently of plot holes once this one wraps. SPOILER ALERT: Ok here it is, there is no illuminatii plot, the priest who causes the whole thing killed the pope and planted the bomb. And the reasoning and the plot behind it are all a mess. If it were really the illuminatti then the plot and the way the puzzle is laid out would make complete sense. In the end when the reveal happens its more of a let down, especially after the superhero moment the priest has by flying a helicopter by himself (somehow he has the training) with the bomb, over the city into the air then miraculously parachuting to safety as it explodes. When we realize the priest did the whole thing then its like a big WTF!! We are like why did he go through it at all. What was the real purpose? So I can say that it is an entertaining movie with a completely unsatisfying resolution and ending. Hey but at least the priest commits suicide by self flame burning as his sacrifice to God. Its an OK movie just don't look too deep, its less than the first movie.
