Las Vegas and its "Talent" Casting Scams

After living in Las Vegas and working in the entertainment industry out here for the past six months I must put out a warning about the proliferation of scam companies trying to bilk money out of movie and tv actors (and wanna-be ones). Craiglist for Vegas is filled daily with postings from companies that want to rip people off. They charge a monthly or yearly fee to sign up with their "Service" (and that is a loosely used term here). And they love to say things like "Las Vegas Actors and Talent needed now" or "Movies need extras now make big $$$" or "Auditions now- 5000 of them every day!" All of it is BULLS$#T!

A movie filming in Vermont is not casting for extras in Las Vegas, an audition for a reality or game show can be found on the NETWORKS website, and you should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER pay these bozos for what amounts to a "MySpace" page. Even if the company is casting for a legit project in Vegas you should never pay them! If they are casting, they are paid by the production company to CAST people whom the production company pays for their work. The Casting company should NOT be collecting money from the talent for any reason. Only a real agent gets you Auditions for Film or TV roles and then they get their 10% from the work you book through them. You don't pay them to represent you, only if you book paying work do they see money.

Beware be warned and be careful out there!
